“Two years ago the soprano Marie Lys won the Cesti competition here in Innsbruck, impressing the judges with her wonderfully fresh, youthful voice, sparkling coloratura, and fine vocal control. She returned for this year’s festival in the largely comedic lead role of Marcellina, in which she not only reaffirmed her prodigious singing talent, but also showed herself to be an excellent actress.
